This dynamic Nurse Practitioner Physician Assistant (NP PA) position involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team in the Infectious Diseases section of the Division of Public Health, Infectious Diseases, and Occupational Medicine (PHIDOM). The NP PA will work in collaboration with physicians, fellows and nurses in PHIDOM and develop a focused expertise in at least two subspecialties. In this role, the NP PA will work closely with providers on inpatient and outpatient services.
This role affords the NP PA an opportunity to utilize their advance practice skills, including but not limited to comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, initiation and interpretation of tests, prescription of pharmacologic agents, execution and evaluation of the plan of care as determined in collaboration with the physician.
The NP PA may also follow patients discharged on antimicrobial therapy as well as coordinating post-hospital care for home infusion and with patient's local primary care provider. The NP PA will also provide education/counseling to the patient and their families.
The patient populations served in PHIDOM include those with challenging and complex infectious disease issues in both the inpatient or outpatient setting, outpatient preventive and occupational medicine, and Travel and Immunization Clinic in the outpatient setting for comprehensive pretravel consultations, counseling and vaccination.
This role also allows an NP PA to refine their educational and mentoring skills. Participation in academic and scholarly work is encouraged. Flexibility, initiative and team spirit are important for this position.
Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license and certification, or eligible to be certified, as an FNP or
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by the NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.
The NP/PA must be eligible for DEA registration. BLS is required.
