Description

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct clinical support to urology providers and assists in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a specialty setting. This role includes patient assessment, clinical procedures, medication administration, care coordination, and patient education. The ideal candidate is compassionate, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with sensitive genitourinary health conditions in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Room patients and obtain comprehensive vital signs, medical history updates, and medication reconciliation
     
  • Assist providers with urologic procedures such as cystoscopies, prostate biopsies, vasectomies, catheter placements, bladder instillations, and urodynamic studies
     
  • Perform clinical tasks including injections, catheterizations, specimen collection, urinalysis, EKGs (if applicable), and other point-of-care testing
     
  • Administer medications as prescribed within scope of practice
     
  • Educate patients on diagnoses, medications, post-procedure instructions, and treatment plans
     
  • Triage patient calls and portal messages, escalating clinical concerns appropriately
     
  • Coordinate labs, imaging, referrals, and follow-up appointments
     
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
     
  • Ensure exam rooms are prepared and stocked; maintain sterilization and infection control standards
     
  • Support compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and clinical safety regulations
Requirements

 

  • Current and active LPN license in Florida
     
  • Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program
     
  • Minimum 1–2 years of clinical experience preferred; urology or surgical specialty experience strongly preferred
     
  • Experience with EMR systems (eClinicalWorks, Athena, Epic, etc.)
     
  • Current BLS certification required or obtained within 90 days of hire
     

Knowledge & Skills

  • Understanding of common urologic conditions (BPH, kidney stones, urinary retention, incontinence, UTIs, prostate cancer, erectile dysfunction, etc.) preferred
     
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient education skills
     
  • Ability to triage and prioritize in a high-volume specialty clinic
     
  • Professional, discreet, and compassionate approach to sensitive patient concerns
     
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
     
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
